Richard Yilin Zhang, M.D, O.D., Ph.D, FIAO

Dr. Richard Yilin Zhang graduated from Medical School and completed his residency in Ophthalmology in Shandong Medical University. He was specialized in Pediatric Ophthalmology with a special focus in Myopia and Amblyopia treatment and management. He was awarded a Master of Medicine degree in Ophthalmology upon finishing his training (1989). He then worked in the affiliated hospital of Shandong Medical University (aka Qilu Hospital) as an Ophthalmologist before he went to study in National University of Singapore (Medical School) and finished his Ph.D in Neuroscience focused in neural innervation to the intrinsic muscles to the eye (1995).

​In 1998, Dr. Zhang received his Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from The New England College of Optometry in Boston and passed national board and state board (MA and NH) exams to be Board Certified in Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease. He was also trained in the Department of Ophthalmology in Children's Hospital of Harvard Medical School and Lahey Hospital of Tufts Medical School.
Dr. Richard Yilin Zhang has practiced Optometry in Boston area since 1998. Beside providing general optometry services including complete eye exam and  contact lenses fitting, Dr. Zhang is specialized and focused on Myopia progression control/ management for children with Ortho-K lenses, Misight lenses, low dose Atropine eye drops and Stellest lenses (recently FDA approved myopia control glasses). He is a certified designer for Wave Ortho-K lenses and also licensed to fit many other OrthoK lens designs (CRT, GOV, Euclids). He is an active member of American Academy of Orthokeratology (AAO) and a fellow of International Academy of Orthokeratology (FIAO, FIAOMC). He also specializes in dry eye treatment using Optilight (the only FDA approved IPL), Optilift and LLLT.
